2020-21 School Updates

Update on Return to School postponement - December 30, 2020

Dear Cougar families,
I hope our families are enjoying a relaxing Winter Break. On Monday, December 28, 2020, after careful consideration, the SDUHSD Board of Trustees decided to pause our expansion of general in-class instruction that was scheduled to begin on January 4, 2021. Please see the recent Superintendent’s update for more information.
What does this mean for Diegueño Middle School students?
Based on this decision, students participating in Distance Learning from home before Winter Break will continue learning from home beginning on Monday, January 4, 2021. Those students accessing on-campus learning support through a Learning Hub or Special Program before Winter Break will continue to do so on campus, on the previous days assigned, beginning on Monday, January 4, 2021. If you feel your student is in need of additional academic or social-emotional support, please contact his/her teacher, counselor, or an administrator. Additionally, parents and students will also have access to request both academic and social-emotional support via a Google Form. Our SDUHSD Board of Trustees, district leadership team, and the Diegueño Middle School staff is committed to creating a plan for students to return to school when it is safe. We will continue to support all students to the best of our ability during this challenging time.
I will be reaching out to those families who expressed an interest in returning to campus one day a week next week. In the coming weeks, planning and communication about next steps for our expanded middle school reopening plans will be shared with our families.
Your patience and understanding is appreciated. Be safe and stay healthy, Cougars.  Have a Happy New Year!
Warm regards,
Cara Dolnik
