San Juan Mendoza, Principal

San Juan Mendoza is excited to be joining the Diegueño Middle School as the new Principal! San Juan brings over three decades of educational experience to Diegueño Middle School. He graduated from St. Mary’s with a BS in Physical Education and received his MS in Educational Leadership from Creighton University. His philosophy is to provide students a high quality education, develop the whole child and make educational decisions that are in the best interest for students. San Juan started his career in education as the head football coach for St. Pius X High School where he served for 21 years. In 2016, he transitioned his career to an assistant principal at St. Pius X High School then became the Assistant Principal at Manzano High School in 2019. Albuquerque Public Schools enlisted San Juan to be the principal at Van Buren Middle School in January, 2022.
