Happy Last Week of School, Diegueño Families! Here are my notes from the May 2024 meeting as our school parent representative for SDUHSD's Parent Curriculum Advisory Committee (PCAC):
- SDUHSD will again offer Summer School Programs for grades 7-12 this year, with over 640 students enrolled including incoming Multilingual Learner Newcomer students from the elementary district to take English Language Development.
- Feedback from the Public Review of Core Subject Instructional Materials appreciated the "online and in-person options for review, access to the hard-copy textbook and digital platform, and ability to provide feedback." The SDUHSD's School Board makes the final decision in an upcoming School Board Meeting concerning the adoption of the recommended instructional materials for 2024/25 AP Psychology, AP Statistics, Chemistry in the Earth System, and Physics of the Universe.
- Finally, three major themes came out of the LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan) Engagement Meetings:
- Student Access
- SDUHSD will provide all students with ACCESS to services, a broad course of study, facilities, materials, and support necessary to learn.
- Climate & Culture
- All SDUHSD students, staff, families, and educational partners will engage in and contribute to a culture of BELONGING where everyone is accepted, heard, included, and valued.
- High Academic Standards for All
- All SDUHSD students are prepared to ACHIEVE their academic goals, equipping them with the ability to choose pathways for post-secondary success.
